New for 2016

“Getting feedback from those that are on the same journey is invaluable.” – Krishna Subramanian, Captiv8

Our 2016 program includes an additional night to allow early arrival, including a campfire s’mores & wine kick-off.

Day 2 and 3 will feature founder-centric programming that explores the three key thematic areas of Founders Network:

  • The Lifecyle of the Startup Firm – Successfully Navigating To Your Next Startup Milestone
  • Functional Management Expertise – Increasing Your Competency In Product, Recruiting, Fundraising, Growth, etc.
  • Surviving Founderhood – Stress Management, Wellness, Mindfulness & Leadership Development

There will be speakers, breakout groups, private reflection time and fun activities like hiking, yoga, swimming and wine tasting – we’ll bring the awesome programming, resort setting and great food and wine that you expect at an FN event. But the Summit’s greatest value is the peer and investor connections that will start here and grow in the year to come.

Early Bird Registration

“The value, dollar for dollar, is incredible.” – Erik Christiansen, JustUno

Since space is limited and the event fills up quickly, organizers encourage interested entrepreneurs to take advantage of early bird registration, now open.

Regular registration opens July 1, but it is likely to sell out before that date. The opportunity, program and setting make it an incredible deal. Founders come from the U.S. and other countries to attend.

The Program

“The quality of the speakers was second to none” – Rob Imrie, AccessFuel

The 2016 retreat is one day longer than previous gatherings. It is now three days and two nights, based on the suggestions from previous attendees. As always, the agenda is centered around the interests of founders, especially those in the tech startup sector.

Three main presentations are planned, starting with the current state of the industry. “Startup Lessons Learned” and “How to Grow Your Business While Juggling Founderhood” are geared to the highly specialized challenged faced by those who start their own companies.

Napa Valley Location & Onsite Acommodations

“HOLY SHIT, this place is NICE!” – Anonymous Guest

The setting is the Mayacamas Ranch in Napa Valley. Located on a hilltop above Calistoga, it has stunning views from all sides. The secluded setting and expansive grounds make it perfect for outdoor activities and as a peaceful place to renew and connect.

Lodging is available for attendees at the ranch. Accommodations include a choice of private or shared rooms and dormitory-style. Prices start at $150 for two nights. All lodging is first-come, first served.

The Fun

“It offers a chance to disconnect for a couple of days. As founders we often don’t take that time.” – Helge Helberg, OrganicMediaNetwork

Outdoor activities on the ranch include yoga, hiking, swimming or simply relaxing in a hammock and enjoying the beautiful vistas. Organic and local “farm-to-table” food is exceptional, sparking casual conversation and business ideas. And since it’s the Napa Valley, wine tasting is a natural part of the retreat.

The Opportunity

“The level of authentic conversation is what stands out. Within the first half hour, people were discussing business, life, aspirations and challenges.” – Paul Caswell, WeaveThePeople

The retreat offers a range of benefits for attendees, from a chance to relax in beautiful surroundings to listening to respected speakers and group meetings on specific topics. But by far, previous retreat-goers place the highest value on the chance to connect to their fellow entrepreneurs and to investors in this informal setting.

The day-to-day effort to launch and grow a company takes its toll. Founders can get so caught up with tactics to stay afloat and develop that they lose sight of essentials. The life of an entrepreneur is exciting, but it’s also draining.

The retreat offers a safe, comfortable spot to figure out what renews your energy and what is draining it. As you get away from daily distractions in the serene Napa Valley, you can mentally step back. Space to reflect is at a premium in the hectic life of a tech startup founder. But it is essential if you want to find away through roadblocks, both professional and personal. Attendees report that they have been able to build relationships in these three days that are next-to-impossible in the normal, but hectic, grind of running their companies.
