December News: Rounds raised, partnerships forged and a timely toast

Across the network, we grew to 600 members who have collectively raised over $250 million.  Over 4,000 posts kept the forum and its founders-only conversation at the heart of our growing platform. And we made it tougher to get into FN this year, switching to a nomination-only application process, with members advocating for who should join the community.

In the offline world, we paid a visit to the White House and have been selected as a supporting partner for the 2016 White House Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES). FNers are going to see opportunities to participate, be it mentoring global attendees, joining the review committee or – for our accredited fnInvestors – becoming a limited partner in the GES VC Fund. More information on all of these programs is on in the way in the new year.

As the year drew to a close, members celebrated each other’s latest successes:

Diego Villarreal Meyer’s Banter App closed a $300,000 seed round and shot past 10k monthly active users in December. The nightlife specialists have pulled together real-time photos and information on happy hours, live music and food trucks in one unified app.

Michael Tompkins’ glowfi.sh joins the Accelerprise SaaS accelerator this January. Glowfi.sh offers a machine learning ecosystem for IoT businesses. They deliver predictive modeling for businesses seeking insight.

Ankit Agarwal netted three major new partnerships this quarter for Micello, an indoor maps database on a mission to map every building in the world. They provide the SDKs and APIs to distribute data across business applications in everything from IoT to facility management to wayfinding.

Micello has been built into Cisco’s Enterprise Mobility and Services Platform (they went live with joint customer Mall of America over Thanksgiving!) and is available on ServiceNow’s management product.

And a toast to Jay Hung’s Mixture Labs, which launched new its new spirits catalogue on Bevvy, a community platform for the world of drinking. They created Bevvy as a place for everyone from connoisseurs to newbies to discover and share the best drinks. Learning what to buy, what to make and how to make it gets easier with Bevvy’s comprehensive – and sleek – tools for exploration and information. They’re planning to keep adding through 2016 until they’ve catalogued every legally recognized booze that’s out there.
