Issues with cofounders? Founding teams have the best of intentions but sometimes cannot change with the business needs, pivots or growth. Join fnMembers Elisabeth Maurer and Paul Della Maggiora, Morrison Foerster attorney Murray Indick and Business Growth Expert Eric Hathaway as we explore all angles of what it’s like to identify, shape and let go of teammates.
Founder of LightIntegra
Elisabeth is a scientist and entrepreneur who fell in love with blood platelets in July 1988 when she started her PhD in physical chemistry. Then, she knew next to nothing about these marvelous cells she now calls “our trillion defenders”. Being a novice in the field of platelets gave Elisabeth the freedom to discover new things about them. Her passion for platelets grew with every new discovery: their dual role as immune and “blood clotting” cells, their function as serotonin carriers, and their potential to save lives when transfused.
Her desire to unravel the mysteries of platelets provided for an interesting career: from basic research at the Karl-Franzens University, Graz and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver to transfusion medicine with Canadian Blood Services; from inventing assays to founding a company, LightIntegra Technology; and finally to non-profit endeavors: plateletMAP, an online educational tool, and the PlaDisco Society to support blood Platelet Discovery for better health and better transfusions.
